When you create your account, the system sets your status to "temporary user". You can view a little more content than a guest user, but you can't post comments of create forum topics. I set the system up this way to minimize the amount of spam we get (spammers are ubiquitous and relentless).

After you create your account, the system sends an email to the address you created your account under. This email message contains a link will fully activate your account. Once you fully activate your account, you'll be able to post forum topics, comment, etc..

What's this mean to you? Check your email and spam filter after you create an account, follow the link, and verify your account. Once you do, you'll be able to fully participate in the site.
